چکیده
This paper is about two things: (i) Charles Sanders Peirce (1837–1914)—an iconoclastic philosopher and polymath who among the greatest of American minds. (ii) Abductive inference—a term coined by C. S. Peirce, which he defined as “the process forming explanatory hypotheses. It only logical operation introduces any new idea.”1. inference quantitative economics. plays a fundamental role in empirical scientific research tool for discovery data analysis. Heckman Singer (2017) strongly advocated “Economists should abduct.” Arnold Zellner (2007) stressed that “much greater emphasis on reductive [abductive] teaching econometrics, statistics, economics would be desirable.” But currently, there are no established theory or practical tools can allow an analyst to abduct. attempts fill this gap introducing principles concrete procedures Economics Statistics community. I termed proposed approach Inference Machine (AIM).2. The historical Peirce’s experiment. In 1872, conducted series experiments determine distribution response times auditory stimulus, widely regarded one most significant statistical investigations history nineteenth-century mathematical (Stigler Ann Stat 239–265, 1978). On 150th anniversary experiment, we look back at Peircean-style abductive through modern lens. Using data, it shown how analysts abduct systematic automated manner using AIM.

Neandertals...150 years later.
The place of Neandertals in modern human emergence has been a subject of debate since the first recognized Neandertal skeleton was discovered in 1856. This paper presents an overview of morphological, archaeological, and genetic evidence commonly used in discussions of Neandertals and their evolutionary significance. A brief historical sketch of the argument provides insight into the changing v...
متن کاملHarleß’ Apparatus of Will: 150 years later
As the empirical study of action control via ideomotor effect anticipations continues to uncover more and more aspects of this fundamental process, it is time to look back to the 19th century roots of the theory to assess which classical ideas are supported by contemporary research. In turn, classic ideas might stimulate studies on aspects of the ideomotor mechanism that have not yet been addre...
متن کاملPeirce and the Autonomy of Abductive Reasoning
Essential to Peirce's distinction among three kinds of reasoning, deduction, induction and abduction, is the claim that each is correlated to a unique species of validity irreducible to that of the others. In particular, abductive validity cannot be analyzed in either deductive or inductive terms, a consequence of considerable importance for the logical and epistemological scrutiny of scientifi...
متن کاملTarski ’ s Claim thirty years later
Tarski’s Claim (TC = Theorem 8 in [13]) follows from simple considerations in (type-free) lambda-calculus. The present note records essentially a proof of Lemma 1.1 in [16], i.e. TCL = the type-free lambdacalculus variant of TC, as well as a few historical comments appearing there. Additional remarks are meant to insure the fact that TCL can be transferred verbatim to typed lambda-calculus [TCL...

In this chapter, we brieey recall the origins of Maslov's method, and describe further results and ideas related to this method. 1. 1979{81: The Origins of S. Maslov's Iterative Method 1.1.
